Two Die After Tug And Liner Collide -- The moment of impact as the liner "Italia" and the tug "Fairplay I" collide at Cuxhaven, Germany, yesterday September 6. The Tug, which was towing the liner, sank almost immediately, trapping the Captain's five-year-old Son, and the radio operator, inside. The remainder of those aboard the tug leapt overboard. The liner was only slightly damaged. Both those trapped in the tug lost their lives. September 13, 1954. (Photo by Associated Press Photo).

The four masted barque Lawhill standing off Port Victoria, South Australia with all sail set but lacking the wind to send her down the Spencers Gulf on the first leg of her passage to Beira, Portuguese East Africa. She set sail early this morning (Thursday) but was becalmed by midday and in the afternoon dropped anchor and furled sail to await a favorable wind.She is carrying 56,000 bags *****. March 5, 1948.

Floating Hospital -- A U.S. Air Force helicopter hovers over the hospital ship Consoaltion preparatory to landing with a casualty from the fighting front in Korea. Thether a battle casualty lives or dies, becomes permanently handicapped or recovers completely, after depends on the speed with which he gets hospital treatment. In Korea, the medical services of the United Nations land, sea and air forces have cooperated in forming a network of first aid and evacuation facilities. This network makes possible the speedy removal of casualties from the front lines to rear area hospitals on to nearby hospital ships, often in less than 5 minutes. June 09, 1952.

Ship Abiaze In Dock -- The "Zabalbide" blazing in the dock at Liverpool yesterday. Fire broke out on the Spanish steamer Zabalbide (3,038 tons) as she was entering dock at Garston, Liverpool yesterday afternoon. Her cargo of esparto grass caught alight and with in a few minutes flames enveloped the ship. The boiler exploded, but no one was injured the crew being ashore at the times. October 31, 1935.
