05/01/1926. London. Strike Pictures. The Public Surrounding a Medical Ambulance Car That Came to Pick Up Injured People After a Melee.

An armoured convoy with meat supplies passing Bank en route for Smithfield Market during the General Strike. In support of a strike by coal miners over the issue of threatened wage cuts, the Trades Union Congress called a General Strike in early May 1926. The strike only involved certain key industrial sectors (docks, electricity, gas, railways) but, in the face of well-organised government emergency measures and lack of real public support, it collapsed after nine days. Victory Parade in London, England, UK, 8 June 1946 Crowds line the route as a Land Drainage Excavator and Farm Tractor and Binder make their way towards the Saluting Base in the Mall, as part of the Victory Parade.
