At Dumbarton, the yacht Shamrock III is launched, supported on pontoons. Owned by Sir Thomas Lipton, the yacht was to be his third challenger for the America's Cup. At the launching ceremony the yacht was named by the Countess of Shaftesbury. Date: 17 March 1903

Crash - Dramatic pictured of today's harbour crash. 12 passengers escaped when the ferry Kosciusko came into collision with a 300ft naval oil lighter off Kurraba Point. Kosciusko was holed below the waterline, and picture above shows hoses from the Maritime Services Board tug Burrawaree pumping out the ferry. Picture right at shows the rudder of the lighter embedded in the wooden ferry. May 28, 1955.
