William Henry Bragg (1862-1942) English physicist. Founder of X-ray crystallography, he is shown here using an X-ray spectrometer. In 1915, with his son (William) Lawrence Bragg ( 1890-1871) he shared the Nobel prize for physics.

Marie and her man Pierre Curie in the laboratory. Around 1904 Marie Curie was a chemist and physicist of Polish descent. She coined the term radioactive to describe radiation. Together with her man and Henri Becquerel, she received the Nobel Prize in Physics on a pro rata basis. In 1911, she and her man received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of the chemical elements polonium and radium. Marie Curie is one of the five people who have received a Nobel Prize several times. She also received Nobel Prizes in two different subject areas. New Invention Shows Movements of Solar System. A wonderful machine has just been perfected by Diego Arzic, a mechanical engineer from Chicago, which will enable scientists and students to determine the position of the Sun moon or the Earth in hundred thousand years from today. This mechanical solar system represents the Sun, at the right, the Moon in the center and the earth and the left of the picture. The complete machine is made of steel and is mounted on a steel platform 9feet in diameter. The machine will record the following movements, all of which are regulated by a clock which shows central standard time. That evolution of the Earth around the Sun, completing a revolution in one sideral year. Earth's axis is 23.0 27' inclined toward the elliptic and traveling around the Sun always keeping the inclination in the same direction (toward the celestial pool); the orbit is of the elliptical form and divided into 24 hours, and in turn each other in 60 minutes, so that the right ascens
