Britain's New Liner Enters The Water -- The new 28,000 ton Peninsular and Orient liner 'Iberia' enters the water after its launching at the Harland and Wolff shipyards, Belfast, today (Thursday).The ship was named by Lady McGrigor, wife of the First Sen Lord, Admiral Sir Choderick McGrigor. She is a sister ship of the Arcadia which was built on the Clyde and is due to make her maiden voyage from Tilbury to Australia next month.The Iberia is a twin-screw geared turbine Liner built on modern lines for carrying passengers and cargo.The passenger accommodation provides 674 first class and 733 tourist class berths, Overall length of the ship is about 7183/4 feet and the breadth at its widest part is 93 feet. America's Greatest Liner "United States" To Be Launched In June -- Latest photograph of the superliner United States under construction for the United States Lines at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Virginia which will be launched on Saturday, June 23. This new flagship of the line, which will be christened "United States" is 60% completed. Largest liner ever built in the United States the vessel will be 980 feet long and capable of a speed in excess of 30 knots. She will have accommodations for 2,000 passengers and require a crew of 1,000. May 9, 1951.

Queen Juliana Launches New Cruiser - The "De Zeven Provincien" taking the water after the launch by Queen Juliana.At Rotterdam Queen Juliana launched the new 9,500 ton cruiser "De Zeven Provincien", the latest addition to the the Western Union Naval Defence force. To Exercise With U.S. Fleet - Veteran of the undersea operations into Bergen Harbour, is the midget submarine X24 similar to the midget craft which will operate with the U.S. fleet. This vessel which sank a large German floating dock, is at the Navy's Submarine base H.M.S. Dolphin, Portsmouth.The Royal Navy is sending a midget submarine to co-operate in exercises with units of the United States Navy during the summer months.The submarine XE7 will move under her own power to Portland, Dorset, where she will be shipped aboard a larger vessel and taken to an American naval base an the East Coast.
