Photograph of "The Strafers", a Pierrot entertainment troupe with the British Expeditionary Force in France during WWI.  Sent by George Ranstead, serving in the Army Pay Corps during World War I.  Ranstead was an amateur artist and produced over ninety hand-drawn postcards depicting scenes and cartoons relating to the war.  This particular picture postcard was sent to his sweetheart, Jeannie, later his wife.     Date: 1917
