Friday afternoon, October 22, 1948, the Express train Batavia-Bandoeng is located at 4.50 pm two kilometers south of Poerwakarta, at Bendoel, as the rails had broken up through a gang terrorists over a distance of twenty meters. Immediately after the derailment, the train was taken under fire by the automatic weapons and guns, manned of an estimated fifty man, so that eight people were killed and twenty-three injured. Because a significant number of soldiers increased by train, the fire from the gang could almost immediately be answered. This prevents worse. Overview of the derailed wagons. October 23, 1948. New Vehicles for the Royal Train -- Driver A. Young preparing the Royal Train,the "King George VI", for a run.Two new railway saloons, completed at the L.M.S. works at Wolverton (Bucks) in 1941, are now included in the permanent formation of the LMS Royal Train. Each has a lounge, bedroom and bathroom, and accommodation for their Majesties personal attendants. Each saloon is fitted with private phone and air-conditioning, and the king's Saloon has a 12 valve radio-receiver. During the war this Royal Train covered some 36,000 miles, and was in addition used for many journeys on other main routes. January 08, 1947. (Photo by Fox Photo).
