The opening of the new Kafue Railway Bridge, northern Rhodesia. The Kafue Railway Bridge was built to carry the Livingstone to Lusaka railway line in what is now Zambia over the Kafue River in 1906. It was built for Mashonaland Railways, later merged into Rhodesian Railways which operated the line from 1927 until succeeded in Zambia by Zambia Railways in 1966.

A 1901 photograph of a flat-bottomed cargo scow, being carried overland (in a slightly uncontrolled manner) at the Mantaise Portage on the Slave River in Alberta/Northwest Territories, taken by C W Mathers on an expedition to the far north of Canada and published in his book The Far North. Mathers captioned this photograph: Indians First Nations people portaging a 50 ft. scow or boat on the Mackenzie Portage. Goods and boats are portaged four times in 25 miles on account of the rapids on Slave River.
