British Railways at War - Hello and Goodbye- Transport and Travel in Wartime, UK, 1944 Men and women waiting to meet friends and relatives from a train sit near to the arrivals indicator beside platform 3 until the relevant platform number is displayed. Below an advertisement for the 'News of the World' newspaper, the indicator board lists locations from which trains will be arriving and the times they are due to arrive. For example, the train from Liverpool via Crewe is due at 2:20pm, and the train from Blackpool, via Preston, Wigan and Crewe is due at 1:40pm. A clock is just visible to the right of the indicator board: the time is 1:50pm.
