Passenger Survivors of Enterprise Reach London - These five women together with the man and fair-haired boy, are the passenger survivors of the American freighter Flying Enterprise.They arrived at London airport from Rotterdam, en-route for the United States. The 8.186 tons freighter, adrift in the Atlantic for six days with Captain Carlsen, the ship's master, the only one on board, has to-day been taken in tow by the British salvage ship Turmoil. The tug is making for Falmouth but is not expected to reach there Before Tuesday at the earliest. January 05, 1952.

The Marquess of Bath and American film star Mary Castle launched the Marquess's latest business venture - pedal boating on the lake in the grounds of his mansion, at 4s. a half-hour - yesterday. The "inauguration" was to have taken place on the lawn by the twenty-two-acre lake on the magnificent Longleat estate, near Warminster, Wilts. But the 20,000 people who turned up broke down bushes and barricades in a rush for the "stage" when Mary arrived, so she and the Marquess "opened" the business by pedaling off in the first boat. Trippers' cars and coaches filled aii the approaches to the estate. May 11, 1953.

Driving in the 1960s. Car helmets was introduced in Sweden to encrease personal safety when driving cars. The manufacturers of the helmets hoped the sales of them would be boosted by the upcoming change from driving on the left side on the road, to the right. Oddly enough fewer accidents happened then prior the change. Pictured are a young couple wearing their helmets that were made differently for men and women. Sweden 1966 ref CV38-2

His Grace Takes A 400 K.P.H. Jet TripA flyer clambers up into the cockpit of a 400 M.P.H. jet fighter, ready for take-off. But this is no ordinary flight from the R.A.F station at Linton-on-Ouse, Yorks. For the ***** is His Grace the Rt. Reverend Dr. Donald Coggan, Archbishop of York. Soon after this picture was taken he zoomed low across the top of York Minister in the co-pilot's seat of a Provost jet trainer, controlled by an R.A.F. instructor. Dr. Coggan's flight was part of his "meet the people" plan which has so far taken him to a brewery, a farm, and on to the footplate of an express train. July 21, 1965. (Photo by Daily Mirror).
