Photograph of Coast Guard Combat Photographer Edgar K. Jaffe. Hunts Saipan Japs with Gun and Camera. With his gun strapped to his side and his camera in hand, Coast Guard Combat Photographer Edgar K. Jaffe, of 697 West End Avenue, New York, N.Y. site on an Allied amphibious monster during a lull in the fighting on Saipan Island, in the Marianas. The photographer's mate first class came ashore with a Coast Guard beach party to "shoot" Japs with both gun and camera as the Allied forces moved up the island. Jaffe formerly lived at 989 Iranistan Avenue, Bridgeport, Conn., where he was employed in the display department of the Rowland Dry Goods Company from 1940 to June, 1942, when he enlisted in the Coast Guard. Earlier, in 1940, he worked in the display department of Gonung's, Inc., Danbury, Conn.
