"Semper Paratus" in Practice. A rugged 13-foot emergency flood boat, built of marine plywood and known as an "M-2", is loaded aboard a Coast Guard Curtis commando (C-46) at St. Louis, Missouri for transportation to Louisville, Kentucky in a demonstration flight. Two hours later, the boat was "flipped" into the Ohio River at Louisville, ready for use. The demonstration proved that any flood area within 320 miles of St. Louis can, within two hours, be supplied with boats, radio equipment, and rescue personnel. Thus the Coast Guard, "Always Ready," copes with the flood threat that menaces the river areas from February until June.
