The Battle of the Somme, July - November 1916 Equipment: A 9.2 inch railway gun in action during the battle of Albert.

The 13 pounder Mk. I Field Gun of 'L' Battery which played a part in the action at Nery, France on 1 September 1914 in which three Victoria Crosses were won. The gun is currently on display at the Imperial War Museum.

This photo, dating to before 1922, relates to World War I. The caption reads: This American gun has no direct recoil system, the recoil of the gun being absorbed by the whole carriage sliding back upon the beam under frame. The maximum rearward movement is approximately 48 inches. The total weight of this mount is about 600,000 pounds.

BRITISH ARTILLERY

Paraguayan gun battery during the Chaco War (1932-1935; (Guerra del Chaco) fought between Bolivia and Paraguay over control of the northern part of the Gran Chaco region (known in Spanish as Chaco Boreal) of South America, which was thought to be rich in oil. It is also referred to as La Guerra de la Sed (Spanish for "The War of Thirst") in literary circles, for being fought in the semi-arid Chaco. It was the bloodiest military conflict fought in South America during the 20th century

The armored vehicles shown on the attached photo are arranged for wounded transport from the combat terrain to the underlying site, after which transport to the dressings are taken over by other (non-armed) wheel vehicles. The vehicles shown are variants of existing combat vehicles, giving a high degree of standardization in the maintenance and the components. Brief description of the vehicles shown: top left and bottom left is the M-113 wounded transport. This is a caterpillar vehicle and is amphibious. At the top right is the AMX wounded transport. This is a caterpillar vehicle and is not amphibious. At the bottom right is the DAF YP-408 wounded transport. This is a wheel vehicle and is not amphibious. Mentioned vehicles have been used by the Royal Netherlands Army in the 60s, 70 and 80. The vehicles have since been phased out and replaced by newer designs.
