The Trojan hero Aeneas, along with some Trojans, escapes from Troy, after the Greeks have entered the city and set it afire. On their way west across the Mediterranean, they stopped at isalnds known as the Strophade, where the Harpies lived. The Harpies were monstrous creatures, birds with female faces. The Trojans kill some of the cows and goats on the island for food, The Harpies attack Ias seen in this 19th-century illsutration and curse the Trojans.

French satirical postcard 1906. Depicting the protagonists of the Algeciras Conference. It caricatures Emile Loubet, President of France (1899-1906), and German emperor Wilhelm II (1859-1941). The Algeciras Conference of 1906 took place in Algeciras, Spain, and lasted from 16 January to 7 April. The purpose of the conference was to find a solution to the First Moroccan Crisis of 1905 between France and Germany, which arose as Germany responded to France's effort to establish a protectorate over the independent state of Morocco.

Illustration of the 1889, Fête des Vignerons (Winegrowers Festival); is a traditional celebration held five times a century in Vevey, Switzerland. It has been organized by the Brotherhood of Winegrowers of Vevey since 1797. The committee is free to choose the time intervals between parties, the maximum being five times per century. Until now, the interval between two parties has varied between 14 and 28 years. The next edition will take place in 2019, 20 years after the previous one (1999); . The show pays tribute to the world of wine, several performances take place on the Market Square along the shores of Lake Geneva.

On the way, He sees Helen and is about to kill her, as seen here in this 19th-century illustration, but his mother, Venus (Aphrodite), intervenes and stops him (as sen here as well). She tells him that it is not Helen to blame for the war but the gods who set all in motion.

In this 1880s illustration, the Greek hero Odysseus is shown following the car of Nausicaa. Odysseus was the legendary king of Ithaca, and a Greek hero in the great Trojan War, which the Greeks won after 10 long years. On his way home, Odysseus had many adventures, including his stop at the land of the Phaeacians, where he is found washed up on their shore by the king's daughter Nausicaa, who had been playing ball with her friends.

Count Ludwig knocked backward from his horse during a joust, 16th century. He wears a helmet, buckler and armour cuisses, and his lance is broken. The buckler (shield) and caparison have silver decoration painted on a red field. The fall occurred in a joust with his brother Duke William IV of Bavaria from an illustration in his Turnierbuch (Tournament Book).
