Hua held the top offices of the government, party, and the military after Premier Zhou and Chairman Mao's death, but was forced out of major political power by more influential party leaders by June 1981

Meng Xiaodong was born in Shanghai in 1907 and by the age of 13 was already singing Peking Opera at the Da Shijie 'Great World' Entertainment Complex. During the course of her professional career she sang all over China, always returning to Shanghai. In Chinese opera, she always played bearded men. In 1925, Shanghai-born 18 year-old Meng Xiaodong met Mei Lanfang for the first time while performing on stage together during a minister's birthday party in Beijing. Over a year later, she married Mei and became his third wife. They had a daughter together just before their marriage ended in 1931. Reportedly, they never spoke to each other again. In a strange twist of fate, Meng Xiaodong later became the concubine and then fifth wife of Shanghai gangster, Green Gang leader and right wing politician Du Yuesheng ('Big Ears Du'). Meng Xiaodong moved to Taiwan in the 1960s, died in 1977, and is buried in the Buddhist cemetery at Jinglu Temple at Shanjia, Shulin in Taipei County.

Kim Jong-il (16 February 1941 or 1942 17 December 2011) was the supreme leader of North Korea (DPRK) from 1994 to 2011. He succeeded his father and founder of the DPRK Kim Il-sung following the elder Kim's death in 1994. Kim Jong-il was the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of North Korea, and the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, the fourth-largest standing army in the world. In April 2009, North Korea's constitution was amended to refer to him as the 'supreme leader'.He was also referred to as the 'Dear Leader', 'our Father', and 'the General'. His son Kim Jong-un was promoted to a senior position in the ruling Workers' Party and is his successor.

Baron Sadao Araki (1877 -1966) general in the Imperial Japanese Army before and during World War II. As one of the principal nationalist right-wing political theorists in the Empire of Japan, he was regarded as the leader of the radical faction within the politicized Imperial Japanese Army and served as Minister of War under Prime Minister Inukai. Prince Saionji Kinmochi (December 7, 1849 ñ November 24, 1940) was a Japanese politician, statesman and twice Prime Minister of Japan. His title does not signify the son of an emperor, but the highest rank of Japanese hereditary nobility, he was elevated from marquis to prince in 1920. As the last surviving genro, he was Japan's most honoured statesman of the 1920s and 1930s.

Prince Itō Hirobumi, (藤博文?, October 16, 1841 - October 26, 1909, also called Hirofumi / Hakubun and Shunsuke in his youth) was a samurai of Chōshū domain, Japanese statesman, four time Prime Minister of Japan (the 1st, 5th, 7th and 10th), genrō and Resident-General of Korea. Itō was assassinated by Korean independence activist An Jung-geun in 1909.

Kim Il-sung (15 April 1912 8 July 1994) was a Korean communist politician who ruled North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, from its establishment in 1948 until his death in 1994. He held the posts of Prime Minister from 1948 to 1972 and President from 1972 to his death. He was also the leader of the Workers' Party of Korea from 1949 to 1994 (titled as chairman from 1949 to 1966 and as general secretary after 1966). His tenure as leader of North Korea has often been described as autocratic, and he established an all-pervasive cult of personality. From the mid-1960s, he promoted his self-developed Juche variant of communist national organization. He outlived Joseph Stalin by four decades, Mao Zedong by two, and remained in power during the terms of office of six South Korean presidents, ten U.S. presidents, and twenty-one Japanese prime ministers. Following his death in 1994, he was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-il, who in turn was succeeded by his son Kim Jon

Koo Vi Kyuin or Ku Wei-chün (simplified Chinese: 维钧; traditional Chinese: 顧維鈞; pinyin: Gù Wéijūn; Wade-Giles: Ku Wei-chün) (January 29; 1887 - November 14; 1985); often known by the Western name V. K. Wellington Koo; was a prominent diplomat under the Republic of China; representative to the Paris Peace Conference of 1919; Ambassador to France; Great Britain; and the United States; participant in founding the League of Nations and the United Nations; and judge on the International Court of Justice at the Hague from 1957 to 1967. Between October 1926 and June 1927; while serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs; Koo briefly held the concurrent positions of acting Premier and interim President of the Republic of China. Koo is the first and only Chinese head of state known to use a Western name publicly.

Lu Xun (or Lu Hsun), was the pen name of Zhou Shuren (Chou Shu-jen), September 25, 1881 - October 19, 1936. He was one of the major Chinese writers of the 20th century. Considered by many to be the founder of modern Chinese literature, he wrote in baihua (the vernacular) as well as classical Chinese. Lu Xun was a short story writer, editor, translator, critic, essayist and poet. In the 1930s he became the titular head of the Chinese League of the Left-Wing Writers in Shanghai.

He was forced out of major political power by more influential party leaders by June 1981. Ye Jianying (1897 - 1986) was a Chinese communist general. As the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 1978 to 1983, Ye was the head of state of the People's Republic of China.

Vo Thi Sau (1935-1952), real name Nguyen Thi Sau, was a 17 year old heroine and patriot executed by French firing squad, March 13, 1952, just seven years after metropolitan France had been liberated from Nazi occupation. She was arrested in 1950, aged 15 years, for throwing a hand grenade in the market at Dat Do which killed three French soldiers. She was sent to Con Dao Prison island where she was executed by the occupying forces. Vo Thi Sau was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Tokugawa Akitake was born in Komagome, Tokyo, as the 18th son of Tokugawa Nariaki. Initially lord of Aizu, he became lord of Shimizu before his departure for France. Tokugawa Akitake led the Japanese delegation to the 1867 World Fair in Paris, where Japan had its own pavilion. He was designated as special emissary to France and head of the Japanese delegation to the Paris exhibition on November 28, 1866. He stayed in France to pursue studies, but had to return to Japan with the Meiji restoration in 1868. Upon his return, he became Lord of the Mito Clan. In 1876, Tokugawa Akitake went to the United States, as the emissary in charge of the Japanese exhibition at the 1876 World Fair in Philadelphia. He then went to France again for studies. He would return to Japan in 1881, where he served Emperor Meiji.

Jiang Qing ( 1914 - 1991), Chinese Communist Revolutionary, actress, and major political figure during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76). She was the fourth wife of Mao Zedong. Jiang Qing was best known for playing a major role in the Cultural Revolution and for forming the radical political alliance known as the "Gang of Four".

Hideki Tojo (30 December 1884 - 23 December 1948) was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) and the 40th Prime Minister of Japan during much of World War II, from 18 October 1941 to 22 July 1944. Some historians hold him responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbor, which led to America entering World War II. After the end of the war, Tojo was sentenced to death for war crimes by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East and hanged on 23 December 1948.

Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay Sr. (1907 - 1957) Filipino statesman who served as the seventh president of the Philippines, from December 30, 1953, until his death in an aircraft disaster on March 17, 1957. An automobile mechanic by profession, Magsaysay was appointed military governor of Zambales after his outstanding service as a guerrilla leader during the Pacific War. He then served two terms as Liberal Party congressman for Zambales's at-large district before being appointed Secretary of National Defense by President Elpidio Quirino. He was elected president under the banner of the Nacionalista Party.

Emperor Khải Định (8 October 1885 - 6 November 1925) was the 12th Emperor of the Nguyễn Dynasty in Vietnam. His name at birth was Prince Nguyễn Phúc Bửu Đảo. He was the son of Emperor Đồng Khánh, but he did not succeed him immediately. He reigned only nine years: 1916 - 1925.

Between 1970 and 1975 Norodom Sihanouk was nominally head of the Khmer Rouge-dominated Royal Government of National Union of Kampuchea (acronym from the French GRUNK), the opposition to Lon Nol's pro-American Khmer Republic. In 1973 he travelled from Beijing to the Khmer Rouge 'liberated zone' of Cambodia for propaganda purposes.

Zhou Enlai (1898 - 1976), Premier of the People's Republic of China. Zhou was China's head of government, serving from October 1949 until his death in January 1976. Zhou served under Chairman Mao Zedong and was instrumental in the Communist Party's rise to power, and later in consolidating its control, forming foreign policy, and developing the Chinese economy.

Chiang Kai-shek (October 31, 1887 April 5, 1975) was a political and military leader of 20th century China. He is known as Jiang Jieshi or Jiang Zhi ngzheng in Mandarin. Soong May-ling or Soong Mei-ling, also known as Madame Chiang Kai-shek (March 5, 1898 October 23, 2003) was a First Lady of the Republic of China (ROC), the wife of former President Chiang Kai-shek. General Joseph Warren Stilwell (March 19, 1883 October 12, 1946) was a United States Army four-star General known for service in the China Burma India Theater. His caustic personality was reflected in the nickname 'Vinegar Joe'.

Xi Jinping (Simplified Chinese 近平, Traditional Chinese 習近平, pinyin: Xí Jìnpíng, born 15 June 1953) is the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, the President of the People's Republic of China, and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission. As General Secretary, he is also an ex officio member of the CPC Politburo Standing Committee, China's de facto top decision-making body. Son of communist veteran Xi Zhongxun, Xi Jinping rose through the ranks politically in China's coastal provinces. He served as the Governor of Fujian between 1999 and 2002, then as Governor and CPC party chief of the neighboring Zhejiang between 2002 and 2007. Following the dismissal of Chen Liangyu, Xi was transferred to Shanghai as the party secretary for a brief period in 2007. Xi was promoted to the Politburo Standing Committee and Central Secretariat in October 2007 and was groomed to become Hu Jintao's successor. Xi is now the leader of the People's Republic's fifth generation of leadershi

Mu Hanxiang (1924-1949), a member of the Chinese Communist Party, from Tianjin, is of Hui ethnicity, a student at Jiaotong University. He actively participated in underground struggles. He was arrested in April of 1949 and died.

Hồ Chí Minh, born Nguyễn Sinh Cung and also known as Nguyễn Ái Quốc (19 May 1890 - 3 September 1969) was a Vietnamese Communist revolutionary leader who was prime minister (1946-1955) and president (1945-1969) of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). He formed the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and led the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War until his death. Hồ led the Viet Minh independence movement from 1941 onward, establishing the communist-governed Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 and defeating the French Union in 1954 at Dien Bien Phu. He lost political power inside North Vietnam in the late 1950s, but remained as the highly visible figurehead president until his death.

Hu Die (1907-1989) had a career as a film actress from the late 1920s to the 1960s. She had her most brilliant period in the 1930s and the 1940s. Early in the 1930s, she played the leading role in China's first sound film, 'The Singsong Girl', in which she portrays a kindhearted but somewhat ignorant woman who endures her husband's mistreatment and oppression without the slightest resistance. In 'The River Flows Rampant', the first film made by the left-wing dramatists, she plays the role of Xiujuan, a woman who is filled with the spirit of resistance and has a rich inner world in her heart. Her performance won favorable comments. Hu Die played a full spectrum of characters, including a maidservant, a loving mother, a woman school teacher, an actress, a prostitute, a dancing girl, the daughter of a rich family, a laboring woman, and a factory worker.
