An Anglo Saxon bishop 67 and two Saxon monks 66, 68. The bishop's mitre and episcopal cross were in use in the 10th and 11th centuries. The two monks wear robes or cassocks decorated in a particular manner along the edges of the wide sleeves and the bottom of the tunic. The Saxon mitre was flat at the top. Pictured here is the Sultan leaving Topkapi Palace for Friday prayers in one of the capital's mosques circa 1810 by an unknown artist. The once-a-week outing was the only time the Sultan appeared in public. The advisers to the Sultan, the viziers, wore green. Chamberlains wore scarlet. Religious dignitaries wore purple and mullahs light blue. The master of horse dressed head-to-foot in dark green. Court officers wore light red shoes. Those who worked in the Grand Vizier's office, located just outside the palace walls, wore yellow shoes. And among non-Muslims, Greeks wore black shoes, Armenians violet, and Jews blue slippers.

There were two brothers- Staglow and Chrudis, of the family Klemowita-living in Bohemia, near Gruenberg Castle. When their father died, the older brother, Chrudis, said that he should inherit all. The younger, Staglow, said the estate should be divided equally. Princess Libuscha, at the Castle, said the brothers should inherit equally. Chrudis mocked the princes (as seen here) and the people for being ruled by a girl. The princess said she would wed whomever her people chose and would no longer rule alone. The people chose Pungel, the bravest of all Bohemian knights.
