Ottawa, Canada - September 30, 2022: The new plaque for Dr. Peter Bryce, who in 1922 wrote A National Crime, a manuscript detailing the problems he witnessed in government-funded residential schools. The government ignored his recommendations and Bryce was forced out of his job as chief medical health inspector of what was then Canada's Indian Affairs department. The plaque will be located on Sparks Street where the publishing house James Hope & Sons stood, the company that published his work.
