Left to right are Astronauts James F. Buchli, mission specialist, and Michael L. Coats, mission commander. New pumps are scheduled to be installed soon. Now at Launch Pad 39-B, Discovery is set for launch in mid-March for Mission STS-29. Primary payload will be TDRS-D. Crewmembers not seen here are John E. Blaha, the pilot; and Robert C. Springer and James P. Bagian, both mission specialists.

A Substitute For Quinine- the Production of Mepacrine at a Factory Near London, England, UK, 1945 Factory worker Thomas West mixes the ingredients of the anti-malarial drug Mepacrine into a wet paste at a factory near London. The ingredients are in a large metal mixing machine. According to the original caption, Thomas has three brothers serving in the Mediterranean area 'and feels the pills he helps to make may be used by them'.

making PARAFFIN WAX IN THE CANDLE INDUSTRY. Two operators producing the coloured effect found on twisted candles. The candle is first dipped in coloured wax and then twisted in a second bath until the outside edge if left clean of colour. Paraffin wax from petroleum became available in the late 1850's and since such wax was not only cheap and of an attractive appearance, but yielded more light from the same weight of material, it quickly became the basis of by far the greater part of the candle industry.
