H.M.S. Breconshire Raised Off Malta -- H.M.S. Breconshire completely afloat. Admiralty salvage experts have, by what is regarded as a classic piece of salvage, raised HMS Breconshire, the former merchant ship which made a a series of historic voyages under the White Ensign to supply Malta during the war years. Patched and bottom upwards but buoyant, she is now being towed from Malta to Genda where she is to be broken up.Three salvage ships under Captain O.T. Harrison, Chief Salvage Officer for the Boom Defence Department, Admiralty, in the R.F.A. A port beam view of the surface effects ship (SES) 200 underway. Constructed of aluminum, the SES 200 is a water-borne, air supported craft with catamaran-style rigid sidewalls. A cushion of air is trapped between the sidewalls and flexible bow and stern seals to lift a large part of the hull clear of the water, reducing drag. Last German Warship To be Raised From Scapa Flow Surfaces After Twenty Years - The Derfflinger partially afloat, bottom upwards, on July 25, in Scapa flow. Note the great pipes standing up form her bottom through which water was pumped from the ship and through which air was pumped in. Derfflinger, German battlegruiser scuttled with the rest of the surrendered fleet by their own crews in scapa a flow in 1919, was raised to the surface on July 25. She will be broken up. WW1 - The zeppelin L19 (also known as the LZ 54), was a World War I airship of the of the Imperial German Navy. After it's first bomb raid in the UK, the L19 crashed in the North Sea. 1967. From the helicopters that came to the arranged meeting with the defeat of the Daedalus on the high seas, the ship was seen like this on the port side. It was the first "pass", a greeting pass to which the ship responded with a formation of sailors who composed the word Dedalo on the flight deck, perfectly visible in the photo.
