War of Roussillon, also called War of the Pyrenees or War of the Convention, (1793-1795). Conflict between the Spain of Charles IV and the First French Republic. Feat of captain Manuel Jose Pineda (January 1795). After the reorganisation of the Spanish troops by General Urrutia, Captain Pineda was ordered to surprise a reserve artillery park of the French army, in the Pla del Coto, located between Bellegarde and Figueras, with a contingent of Catalan volunteers and 200 somatenes, he reached the rear of the French army, attacking it with bayonets. The North Atlantic Telegraph - The Telegraph Expedition Company camping in Labrador, Canada 1860. 'The projected telegraph is to be laid into Hamilton's Inlet, latitude 54 deg. 30 min. N. The inlet is about 30 miles wide, and extends westward 140 miles. When Colonel Shaffner was examining the fitness of this place for the submerging of the telegraph, he anchored his ship at Brig Harbour, situated on the northern side, where there were a number of vessels, and some two hundred people engaged in fishing. From this place he went from time to time to examine the many islands and arms of the sea.
