Mr. John Curtin.Twice Mr. Padden was asked to leave the troops in Tobruk and twice he insisted on their recall But before they were all with drawn Mr. Curtin took power at the head of a Labor Government. Mr. Curtin said that Australia was the last stand against the Japanese in the Pacific region. If Japan were to move against Australia and obtain a foothold it might be too late to seek assistance. Prince Of Despair -- Prince Philip Von Hessen eats his meal of watery soup from a sauce pan in the internment camp at Darmstadt, Germany, February 01.Queen Victoria's great grandson, Prince Philip Von Hessen, related to the British Royal family (from whom he says he has not heard since the beginning of world war II) and also related to the Bulgarian and Italian royal families (U. S. Ambassador Robert Murphy recently relayed a letter to him from the exiled Italian royal family) is at present one of the eleven thousand odd prisoners in camp "Despair", Darmstadt, Germany, awaiting trial by denazification court. The camp is named "Despair" because its inmates have discovered that its nine denazification courts had completed only 658 cases in five months, and Reckon at this rate, it will take eight years to give them all a hearing.
