Sojono was a descendant of a Javanese regent family. Sojono was regent in Pasoeruran and a member of the Volksraad and of the Council for the Dutch East Indies. An American lieutenant who was a witness for the prosecution was largely responsible for the acquittal of the two German " civilians. He testified that the defendants had given up the enemy deserters when they were told that American troops were occupying the Reich territory.
