The Aceh War, also known as the Dutch War or the Infidel War (1873-1914), was an armed military conflict between the Sultanate of Aceh and the Netherlands which was triggered by discussions between representatives of Aceh and the United Kingdom in Singapore during early 1873. The war was part of a series of conflicts in the late 19th century that consolidated Dutch rule over modern-day Indonesia.

Poland as a military power: cavalry, tanks and infantry (part of a spread in the Illustrated London News). Poland's impressive horse cavalry are seen here, probably the best in Europe (the ILN says), and equipped with sword, lance and machine guns. Queen's Day in Utrecht/ more glorious than in previous years, Utrecht celebrated the birthday of H.M. the Queen. Everything cooperated, even the sun has gone well for the day. The committee for ceremony of the Ver. "Queen's Day" that annoyed this year, had organized a beautiful historical parade, representing the entry of Philips den Schoonen. The members of the Utrechtsche Burgerwacht also participated in the parade, disguised for this time as Burgundians from the era of Philips de Schoone. Our photo man was looking forward to some Burgundian foot servants.
