. 126 Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery Lt Salter was educated at Bancroft's School, Woodford and Camden School of Art. He was appointed cartographer to the British Rainfall Oganisation in 1908. From 1908 - 1916, Lt Salter plotted and drew hundreds of rainfall maps, most of which appeared in publications such as British Rainfall and Symons's Meteorological Magazine. When Dr H R Mill regrouped the rainfall stations of the British Isles into river-divisions in 1910, Lt Salter was responsible for revising the relevant maps. He also worked towards the eventual publication of a Rainfall Atlas and was elected Fellow of the Royal Meterological Society in March 1915. Lt Salter joined the Royal Engineers in 1916 and was posted to the Western Front where he was wounded and invalided home the same year. He received his commission to the Royal Garrison Artillery in 1917. Lt Salter was killed in action, aged 28, on 22 March 1918. He is buried at Grevillers British Cemetery. Faces of the First

He was commanding 2 Battalion when he was fatally wounded during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, during which a total of seven British lieutenant colonels were killed. He died, aged 52, on 13 March 1915. Colonel Uniacke is buried at Estaires Communal Cemetery. Lieutenant Colonel Edgar R. Mobbs, D.S.O.  Edgar Roberts Mobbs DSO (1882 - 1917) was an English rugby union footballer who played for and captained Northampton R.F.C. and England. He played as a three quarter.    After initially being turned down as too old to join the army in World War 1, Edgar raised his own "sportsmans" battalion of 250 sportsmen (also known as Mobbs' Own) for the Northamptonshire regiment. He rose to command his battalion with rank of Lt. Col.  Edgar was killed in

World War 1 - Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig (1861-1928). Douglas Haig was born in Edinburgh on 19 June 1861 into a wealthy family. He studied at Oxford University and in 1884 went to the military Academy at Sandhurst. He had an extensive career and served as commander in chief of British Home Forces from 1918 until his retirement in 1921. He also helped establish the Royal British Legion and worked hard to raise funds for it. He was created an early in 1919 and died on 28 January 1928.

Chen Jun (1905-1927), from Pingyang County, Zhejiang Province, a student at The Great China University, was doing promotion works at the Second Armed Uprising and was captured by the warlords. The Second Armed Uprising was one of the three uprisings of Shanghai workers instigated by the Chinese Communist Party to cooperate with the Northern Expedition and overthrow the warlord government. During the trial, he was righteous and dignified, denounced the warlord, and died heroically.

Lieutenant Roland Gerard Garvin (1895 - 1916), known as Ged to his family, of the 7th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment.  Eldest child and only son of the influential journalist, author and editor, James Louis Garvin who was editor of the Observer from 1908 to 1947 and of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. On May 15th, 1925, Gu Zhenghong, a 20-year-old worker and CCP member of the No. 7 Cotton Factory, led five to six hundred workers to fight against the Japanese in Shanghai. He was shot and killed. This was the trigger for the outbreak of the May 30th Movement. The May 30th Movement was the first nationwide anti-japanese movement led by the Communist Party of China. Shanghai is an important stronghold for japanese colonial rule. Nippon Nekai Cotton Co., Ltd. opened a factory in Xiaoshadu, Shanghai. Due to constant abuse by the Japanese management, the workers went on strike in February of 1925. However, after the workers returned to work, the Japanese refused to fulfil the agreed conditions, and in May a strike broke out again
