Field Marshal Montgomery Decorates Russian Generals at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, 12 July 1945 The Deputy Supreme Commander in Chief of the Red Army, Marshal G Zhukov is invested as a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath by the Commander of the 21st Army Group, Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery. The ceremony took place at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and a Guard of Honour was formed by the 7th Armoured Division.

Liberation Of Europe: British Second Army Commander Named - General Eisenhower and General Dempsey ride in the back of a jeep.Lieutenant General M.C. Dempsey, C.B., D.S.O., M.C., was named as Commander of the British Second Army on June 28th. 47 years old he was a Lieutenant Colonel at the outbreak of war and as acting brigadier commanded an infantry brigade in the campaign in France and Belgium. In June 1941 he became an acting Major General at the head of an armoured Division, and in December 1942 an acting Lieutenant General to take over an Army Corps then hurrying westward through Libya in Pursuit of Rommel from El Alamein. He commanded the famous 13th Corps in the 8th Army through North Africa, Sicily and Italy, returning to Britain in January when he had been selected to lead the British 2nd Army in he Liberation of Europe. Battleship Potemkin, sometimes rendered as Battleship Potyomkin, is a 1925 silent film directed by Sergei Eisenstein and produced by Mosfilm. It presents a dramatized version of the mutiny that occurred in 1905 when the crew of the Russian battleship Potemkin rebelled against their officers of the Tsarist regime. Battleship Potemkin has been called one of the most influential propaganda films of all time, and was named the greatest film of all time at the Brussels World's Fair in 1958.

Peng Dehuai (Peng Te-huai; simplified Chinese: 德怀; traditional Chinese: 德懷; pinyin: Péng Déhuái; Wade-Giles: P'eng2 Te2-huai2) (October 24, 1898 - November 29, 1974) was a prominent Chinese Communist military leader, and served as China's Defense Minister from 1954 to 1959. Peng was born into a poor peasant family, and received several years of primary education before his family's poverty forced him to suspend his education at the age of ten, and to work for several years as a manual laborer. When he was sixteen, Peng became a professional soldier. Peng participated in the Northern Expedition, and supported Wang Jingwei's attempt to form a left-leaning Kuomintang government based in Wuhan. After Wang was defeated, Peng briefly rejoined Chiang Kai-shek's forces before joining the Chinese Communist Party, allying himself with Mao Zedong and Zhu De. Peng was one of the few senior military leaders who supported Mao's suggestions to involve China directly in the 1950-1953 Korean War, and
