Ahmed Cemal Pasha (Ottoman Turkish: احمد جمال پاشا, modern Turkish: Ahmet Cemal Paşa; 6 May 1872 - 21 July 1922), commonly known as Djemal Pasha to Turks, and Jamal Basha in the Arab world, was an Ottoman military leader and one-third of the military triumvirate known as the Three Pashas that ruled the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Djemal was also Mayor of Istanbul and is seen as one of the perpetrators of the Armenian Genocide and the Assyrian genocide.

Joseph Simon Gallieni (24 April 1849 27 May 1916) was a French soldier, most active as a military commander and administrator in the French colonies and finished his career during the First World War. He was made Marshal of France posthumously in 1921.

Kitchener regained the Sudan for Egypt by his victory at the Battle of Omdurman (1898). He was commander of British forces during the Boer War (1899-1902) and served as War Minister from 1914 to 1916. His portrait was used on a famous World War I army recruitment poster. Count Nogi Maresuke, GCB, also known as Kiten, Count Nogi, (25 December 1849-13 September 1912) was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army and a governor of Taiwan. He was one of the commanders during the 1894 capture of Port Arthur from China, and the subsequent massacre of thousands of Chinese civilians. He was a prominent figure in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-5, as commander of the forces which captured Port Arthur from the Russians. He was a national hero in Imperial Japan as a model of feudal loyalty and self-sacrifice, ultimately to the point of suicide. In the Satsuma Rebellion, he lost a banner of the emperor in battle, for which he tried to atone with suicidal bravery in order to recapture it, until ordered to stop. In the Russo-Japanese War, he captured Port Arthur but he felt that he had lost too many of his soldiers, so requested permission to commit suicide, which the emperor refused. These two events, as well as his desire not to outlive his master (junshi), motivated

. Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force Major General Brancker was born in 1877 at Woolwich, Kent and was educated at Bedford School. He joined the Army in 1896 where he received a commission in the Royal Field Artillery and saw active service during the Second Anglo-Boer War in South Africa. After serving briefly as RFA Adjutant, he transferred to the Indian Army where he rose to the rank of Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Army Headquarters, India. At the same time, he developed an interest in aviation. By 1913, Brancker was a junior staff officer at the War Office under General Sir David Henderson. He learnt to fly and was appointed to the Royal Flying Corps reserve, serving as Deputy Director Military Aeronautics during 1914 - 1915 and Director of Air Organisation during 1916 - 1917. A strong administrator, Brancker was responsible for establishing the Royal Flying Corps in France when the First World War broke out and continued to organise the supply of aircra

He displayed the utmost energy in forcing the attack home and after three other battalion commanders had become casualties, he controlled their commands and made sure that the ground was held at all costs. In organising the positions to be held, he exposed himself fearlessly to enemy fire.' Carton de Wiart was born in Belgium. He joined the British Army and fought during the Second Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902, sustaining a serious chest wound.
