This sentry has the important duty of guarding the ship's keyboard, on which hang hundreds of keys of every kind, from those of officer's cabins to the vital magazine and shell-room keys. Each one must be signed for by the drawer in a book kept under the sentry's charge.

Solving the Negative Drying Problem. A deluxe, "homemade" negative dryer is used by the Coast Guard photographers who process hundreds of battle photos in the shell-shaken hut where Jap officers lived during the occupation of Guam. Chief Photographer's Mate Windsor Lakis put the contraption together. Air passing through a vent over four electric light bulbs furnishes heat. On rush days, however, lines have to be strung up between a couple of palm trees to takes care of the overflow.
