Jobs For War Disabled -- Mr. H.A. Harrold who lost both hands near Dumkirk in February 1940 when a Grenade exploded in his hand. With him is Sister Culbane assisting him in using a type-writer in spite of his disability.One of the best known of the British Legions work for war disabled men is the work of the rehabilitation centre at Preston Hall near Maidstone. Started after the 1914-18 war the British Legion Villa go now has a population of about 1,100 men disabled in this war and their families. The village is a model of what can be done in after care of Tubercular and Disabled men, it has its own shops, industries, schools, club and recreation rooms. Commander Sperry, 40, a native of Los Angeles reared in Bedford, Ohio, was a Merchant Marine Officer with a Master's License for ocean vessels before transferring to the Coast Guard in 1953. He presently lives with his wife Sydney and three children at 306 Regency Circle, N. Linthicum, Md.

Unit 731 was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that undertook lethal human experimentation during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) and World War II. It was responsible for some of the most notorious war crimes carried out by Japanese personnel. Unit 731 was the code name of an Imperial Japanese Army unit officially known as the Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department of the Kwantung Army. It was initially set up under the Kempeitai military police of the Empire of Japan to develop weapons of mass destruction for potential use against Chinese, and possibly Soviet forces.

Billings was with the field artillery and was wounded by shrapnel in the back of the knee near Tunis. Before the war, Billings worked on his father's farm in Covington.
