Illustration of the 1889, Fête des Vignerons (Winegrowers Festival); is a traditional celebration held five times a century in Vevey, Switzerland. It has been organized by the Brotherhood of Winegrowers of Vevey since 1797. The committee is free to choose the time intervals between parties, the maximum being five times per century. Until now, the interval between two parties has varied between 14 and 28 years. The next edition will take place in 2019, 20 years after the previous one (1999); . The show pays tribute to the world of wine, several performances take place on the Market Square along the shores of Lake Geneva.

The Yellow Riders. The elite Yellow Riders’ (a mounted artillery corps) gallops down the dunes at breakneck speed. Breitner took full advantage of their black-and-red busbies and the gold braid on their uniforms. The repetition of these colour accents reinforces the dynamism of the movement. The sand kicked up by the horses at front clouds the view of the horsemen behind. All that remains are the accents of black, yellow and red.
