Reserve Second Lieutenant Flyer KL / Coat of Arms of Military Aviation F. (Folkert) Bouma, born 8-6-1921 in Het Bildt. Died on 19-8-1944 in Falaise. Folkert Bouma belonged to the group of kites that was posted before 10 May 1940 as an adspirant reserve officer KL at the flight courses in Haamstede and Souburg. After their evacuation to England, they were posted by 1-9-1940 at the KM as ADSP. CMR. They received their further primary training at the MLD flight school on Morokrembangan / Surabaya. M.i.v. 1-6-1941 followed their appointment to reserve second lieutenant kite at the weapon of military aviation. The group left by 5-9-1941 Batavia with destination UK, where the continued flight training in RAF connection took place. As of 1-4-1942, they were awarded the GMVB, after which they were classified as OVL KMR at 320 Squadron.

The name of Shigeyuki Maruyama, swimmer who recently toured America with the record-breaking Japanese team, brings a jolt to the wartime memories of Judge Adrian Curlewis, of Sydney's District Court. Judge Curlewis says Shigeyuki is a son of Lieutenant Maruyama, who was commandant of a Thailand prisoner-of-war camp, where Digger Curlewis spent several harrowing years.Adds the judge: "If we can produce a swimmer to give Maruyama as big a beating as his father gave us in the prison camp, it will be some revenge for our lads who were under him. Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

World war Two: British commander, General gort. Field Marshal John Gort, (10 July 1886 31 March 1946) was a British and Anglo-Irish soldier. During the 1930s he served as Chief of the Imperial General Staff famous for commanding the British Expeditionary Force sent to France in the first year of World War II, which was evacuated from Dunkirk. Gort later served as Governors of Gibraltar and Malta, and High Commissioner for Palestine.

Royal Air Force Fighter Command, 1939-1945. Wing Commander T F 'Butch' Dalton-Morgan, while leader of the Ibsley Wing, at Harrowbeer, Devon. From the time of his posting to No. 43 Squadron RAF as a flight commander in June 1940, until he was rested from operations in February 1942, by which time he was the Squadron's longest-serving Commanding Officer, Dalton-Morgan shot down at least 14 enemy aircraft. After his return to operations with the Ibsley Wing, he flew with the 4th Fighter Group, 8th USAAF, and then became operations officer with the 2nd Tactical Air Force. By the end of the war he had scored 22 confirmed victories.

Reserve Sergeant-kite KL / Coat of Arms of Military Aviation P. (Pieter) Bos, born on 13-2-1924, Stamboek number 21083. The student-kite Pieter Bos originally belonged to a group from the KL / ML flight schools in Souburg / Haamstede. They were seconded to the KM on 1-9-1940 for the duration of the war. Their first flight training was then continued at the MLD flight school on Morokrembangan / Surabaya. The continuing training on tweotive aircraft from this contingent ML staff then took place at De Raf in England. On 22-12-1941, the GMB was awarded, followed by immediate promotion to reserve Sergeant kite. He was later rejected before the flight service has returned to the KL.

Field Marshal William Joseph 'Bill' Slim, 1st Viscount Slim KG GCB GCMG GCVO GBE DSO MC KS (6 August 1891 - 14 December 1970) was a British military commander and the 13th Governor-General of Australia. He fought in both the First and Second world wars and was wounded in action three times. During World War II he led the 14th Army, the so-called 'forgotten army' in the Burma campaign. From 1953 to 1959 he was Governor-General of Australia, regarded by many Australians as an authentic war hero who had fought with the Anzacs at Gallipoli.

Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces in Germany and British Member of the Control Council for Germany, in succession to Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Sholto Douglas. Lt. General Sir Brian Robertson has served as Deputy Governor and British Representative in the co-ordinating Committee of the Allied Control Council since 1945. After serving during the first World War Sir Brian Robertson remained with the Army until 1933 when he retired to take up a business appointment in South Africa until 1939. October 23, 1947.
