Chaplain Harry Hollister Kline, the first Salvation Army Officer appointed chaplain in the U.S. Army, is pictured. A Spanish War Veteran, he served as a private in the Philippine Islands during the capture of Manila. His service ribbons, including the Congressional Medal, Philippine Insurrection, and Spanish American War, can be seen. Kline was also a chaplain in the Nebraska National Guard. At 53 years old, he had to request an age waiver from the Adjudant General. This photograph was taken in Dannemoine, Yonne, France.

Master Signal Electrician Earl H. Beutler, age 22, stands tall at 6 ft and weighs 180 lbs. Born in Illinois to a father of German descent and an English mother, Beutler works as an electric engineer for Cutler Hammer Mfg. Co. He has a 3-year education specializing in electrical work from the University of Cincinnati. Currently serving as a technical adviser for Co. A in the 107th Field Signal Battalion, part of the 32nd Division, he enlisted with Co. A, 1st Wisconsin Field Signal Battalion in Milwaukee. Beutler has participated in all engagements with the 32nd Division. His role represents the vital expertise in electrical work required for the successful functioning of the Signal Corps. This photograph was taken by Lt. N.L. Dewell on January 24, 1919.

Major Forest R. Moulton, from the Ordnance Department in Washington, D.C., oversaw ballistics works for the Army during World War One. He reorganized the mathematical aspects of exterior ballistics and conducted numerous experiments on projectile displacement, boat tailing, rotating bands, projectile form, temperature-muzzle velocity, and shell bursts. These experiments resulted in significant improvements and increased accuracy of the guns, particularly the 6 inch sea-coast gun.
