SHA-CO-PAY, THE SIX, CHIEF OF THE PLAINS OJIBWA, by George Catlin, 1832, painting, oil on canvas. This work was painted at Fort Union of the American Fur Company on the Upper Missouri River. Sha-Co-Pay's costume is elaborately decorated with colorful beadwork, worked onto the leather fabric, and into the seams. He wears a beaded choker neckband and strands of beads worn over his head. There are eagle feathers in his hair and face paint over his cheeks and nose (BSLOC_2019_9_14)
