The photograph is set into a two-piece gold-washed brass frame with a loop on the reverse for sewing to a garment. The case design with its simple, raised ornamental border is typical of the gilt-metal buttons mass-produced from 1830 to 1850 in several New England factories such as the Scovill Manufacturing Company in Waterbury, Connecticut, which also manufactured daguerreotype plates. The button was discovered in the early 1980s in a flea market in Massachusetts. The use of buttons for political purposes in the United States began in the 1700s with buttons that proclaimed "Independence," as the goal of the oppressed colonists, and "Long Live the President," in honor of the inauguration of George Washington. But it was not until the 1828 presidential campaign of Andrew Jackson, just twenty years before the likely date of this photograph, that the button became a regular part of American electionMule Car Bell. London Stereoscopic Company (active 1854 - 1890)Property for making a part of a collar of needle side, Belgian interned (Village Elisabeth, Amersfoort), c. 1915 - c. 1924 Property for a part of a collar of Venetian needle side. The needle side pattern is drawn with ink on light blue paper and holes are then stung along the pattern lines. In the next stage, the incentive will be traced on a double layer of cotton. The incentive and the double cotton bottom layer are then applied trace wires that follow the lines of the needle side pattern. If all needle side stitches are made over and between these trace wires, the incentive and the cotton surface can be cut and removed. Then you only have a needle side, in this case a part of the collar that can then be processed with the other parts and the edge into a collar. The design of the collar was made by a person from Belgium who was interned in the 'Elisabeth-Dorp' camp in Amersfoort in the First World War. Mrs. Van Nierop started making the collar and has donated the unfinished parts toProjects For Brooches, Design for a Brooch; George E Germer (1868 - 1936); brush and white gouache, graphite, brush and dark purple watercolor on cardboard; 8.9 × 12.7 cm (3 1/2 in. × 5 in.); 1939-84-31-bShowcase with various objects including a collar, a book and a few gloves; Exhibition lace and smaller.Rotary Glass Plates (Precision Optics) formerly titled as, Revolving GlassMachine.
