Eisler Speaks Again -- Demands Release Of Rosenbergs. Gerhard Eisler, recently removed as East-Germany's propaganda chief, makes his first public appearance since being fired as he speaks at a mass-meeting in East Berlin's Friedrichstadt Palast called to demand freedom for the convicted American atom-spies Julius Rosenberg and his wife, Ethel, who are due to be sent to the electric chair in sing sing prison, New York State, soon. Eisler described the Roseebergs as 'those noble people', and he called upon the Americans to 'save them from this cannibalistic murder'. some 3,000 people attendel the meeting. January 8, 1953.
