Julia Margaret Cameron, photographer (British, born India, 1815 - 1879) 1865 Julia Margaret Camerons household was continually alive with new and interesting visitors, most especially young women. Two important guests early in 1864 were Anne Thackeray (1837-1919) and Harriet Marian (Minnie) Thackeray (1840-1875). Their father, the author William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863), had died suddenly on Christmas Eve 1863; Cameron promptly invited the two bereaved daughters to visit Freshwater for a holiday.
