The Brotherhood of Rocío of Seville, of the Parish of El Salvador, was canonically erected on February 17, 1934 by decree of Cardinal Eustaquio Ilundáin y Esteban. Among the promoters were José Anastasio Martín, Emilio Pardo Bernal, José M. Delgado and Segundo de Montes Huibroso. The brotherhood was erected canonically, but the decree contained a very special clause: he could not make a pilgrimage to the hermitage in the village of Almonte for Pentecost. In 1950, a group of brothers, enthusiastically supported by the parish priest Andrés Guillén Morales and with the close collaboration of the lawyer José María Domenech Romero, who until his death was an Honorary Elder Brother, carried out the efforts, not without difficulties, to obtain the ecclesiastical authorization and thus make a pilgrimage to Rocío. The Virgin of the Kings towards the Town Hall (1948).- On November 23, 1948, an extraordinary procession of the Virgin of the Kings was held, as the closing of the Acts of the VII centenary of the reconquest of Seville by King San Fernando, who had the Virgin of the Kings as his great devotion. The Virgin Lucia wore a white suit and cloak, embroidered with castles and gold lions, which was a gift from Queen Elizabeth II. In the Image, the step with the Virgin Heads towards the platform of the town hall. At the Doors of the big house the Litanies were prayed.

Tim Sullivan's funeral

Elaborate pavilions and Buddhist temples are traditionally constructed especially for royal funerals in Siam. The body of the deceased was embalmed and preserved while the cremation site was built. Funereal rites and a period of mourning could take months or even a year before the funeral took place. The embalmed body was then placed in a kneeling position in a gold urn on a high bier inside an ornate edifice to be cremated. Festivities including Chinese theatre and musical shows would be held alongside chanting by Buddhist monks to celebrate the reincarnation of the soul as per Buddhist belief. In Siam, people of all ranks were cremated rather than buried, with the exception of criminals, babies and women who had died in childbirth.
