This illustration of a Chinese junk dates to the early 1900s and is based on a model in the south Kensington Museum in England. The junk is a type of Chinese sailing boat.They were developed during the Song dynasty (960-1279) based on maritime Southeast Asian ship designs that have been trading with the Eastern Han dynasty since the 2nd century AD.

View of Sint Helena, Jan Brandes, 1787 drawing Brandes made a sketch of Sint Helena, which he later worked out when he was anchor with his ship the sea horse. In the foreground you can see the other two Dutch ships that belong to the squadron: the Scheldt on the left and the diamond on the right. In between is a boat of the sea horse, probably sailing towards land to smash fresh water. There are three English ships on the right and a Swedish ship behind it. The landscape shows three ammunition stores: left Half Moon Battery, behind the Schuit Chubbs Battery and to the right of the second Dutch ship Mundens Battery, located on the Ruperts Hill. To the right of this rock you can see the castle with its red roof and behind it the church tower of the St Jameskerk.
