Roman Catholic Elementary School- Life at St Joseph's, Upper Norwood, 1943 A teacher helps a young pupil conduct an 'orchestra' during a music lesson at St Joseph's Elementary School. The boy is using drumsticks or xylophone beaters to conduct the rest of the class, who are playing tambourines, triangles and cymbals. On the walls, various mathematical and grammatical notices can be seen, including the times tables.

According to the original caption, Miss Ejindu works at a large girls' boarding school in Nigeria (St Monica's School in Onitsha) and is taking a general course in education, with a focus on senior girls.

Parents Build Safety Road At SchoolA "jay-walker" has come to grief on the road, and the little tableau, plus an explanatory lecture from teacher, impresses the incident on the kiddies.Parents and pupils of Warren-road, Orpington, school have spent their weekends during the past two summers building a model road in the school grounds. It contains more than 1,000 of concrete roadways and is being used to teach children the correct way to use roads and pavements as pedestrians, cyclists or motorists. The scheme began with a suggestion by Mr. E. W. Stevens, headmaster, to the Parents Association, and they decided to carry out the work as a celebration of victory - a thank offering that their children had escaped the perils of war by teaching the road sense to escape the dangers of the roads.
