Windstreak. The windstreak at the top of this VIS image is located on the Tharsis volcanic flows east of Arsia Mons. Windstreaks form downwind of craters and other topographic highs. Surface winds are deflected by the crater rim into chaotic flow over and around the crater, both removing and depositing dust and sand. NASA's InSight spacecraft captured this panorama of its landing site on Dec. 9, 2018, the 14th Martian day, or sol, of its mission. The 290-degree perspective surveys the rim of the degraded crater InSight landed in, nicknamed Homestead Hollow. The panorama is made of 30 individual images that were taken by the spacecraft's Instrument Deployment Camera, located on its robotic arm.

This panorama from the Mast Camera (Mastcam) of NASA's Curiosity Mars rover shows details of Vera Rubin Ridge, which stretches about 4 miles (6.5 kilometers), end-to-end, on the northwestern flank of lower Mount Sharp. The view combines 112 images taken with the Mastcam's right-eye camera, which has a telephoto lens, on April 4, 2017, during the 1,657th Martian day, or sol, of Curiosity's work on Mars. It has been white-balanced so that colors of the rock and sand materials resemble how they would appear under daytime lighting conditions on Earth. It spans from east-southeast on the left to south-southwest on the right, from a rover location about half a mile (0.8 kilometer) from the closest part of the ridge. Hematite, an iron-oxide mineral, has been detected in this ridge by the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM) on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The ridge has been an identified destination for Curiosity since before the rover's August 2012 landing near

Panoramas of Apollo sites are required to familiarize various Constellation projects with the actual nature of the lunar surface. This image is the first of a multi-framed panorama photographed from a point some 30 or 40 feet west of the plus-Z (west) footpad of the Lunar Module "Eagle." The view is looking toward the southwest showing part of the horizon crater rim that was pointed out as being visible from the Eagle's window. Image taken at Tranquility Base. View was created using Apollo 11 images - mag 40 frames 5881 thru 5891.

STS071-702-009 (27 June-7 July 1995) --- A time exposure on a 70mm camera was used to provide this unusual scene of the vertical stabilizer and part of the Orbital Maneuvering Systems (OMS) pods on the Earth-orbiting space shuttle Atlantis. This type exposure is part of NASA's ongoing evaluation of the interaction of oxygen with materials in low Earth-orbit.
