The hundred antiques” theme on the bags, which includes bronze vessels and inscriptions in an ancient style, demonstrates the late Qing fashion for archaism. The gourd-shaped parts were probably meant for a pomander, and the long rectangles were likely intended for a fan case. Listen to experts illuminate this artwork's story Listen Play or pause #7378.
