District Commissioner Makes His Monthly Tour -- The D.C. is ready to depart. His station wagon is piled high with kit. Everything must be taken  taken along in his truck. His bed, mosquito netting, his tin bath, food, water,. (which has to be boiled and put through a purifier before drinking) all plates and cutlery and above all petrol. Little or nothing can be bought on trek, although sometimes a chief will make a Mash" (gift) of a chicken and some eggs. In addition to his kit five other people and their belongings are piled into the small station wagons- two clerks, his cook, his "boy"  and the armed policeman who is to guard the money he carries to pay road menders, soldiers wives etc. September 21, 1951.
