CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- A Delta IV Heavy rocket lifts off from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida carrying NASA's Orion spacecraft on an unpiloted flight test to Earth orbit. In the foreground is the newly upgraded countdown clock at the spaceport's Press Site. Liftoff was at 7:05 a.m. EST. During the two-orbit, four-and-a-half hour mission, engineers will evaluate the systems critical to crew safety, the launch abort system, the heat shield and the parachute system.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - Satellite trucks are lined up at NASA Kennedy Space Centers Shuttle Landing Facility for the early morning landing of Space Shuttle Discovery, returning from the successful Return to Flight mission STS-114. The landing occurred at 8 11 a.m. EDT, guided by Mission Commander Eileen Collins. Discovery spent two weeks in space on Return to Flight mission STS-114, where the crew demonstrated new methods to inspect and repair the Shuttle in orbit. The crew also delivered supplies, outfitted and performed maintenance on the International Space Station. A number of these tasks were conducted during three spacewalks.
