Schindler's blue colour factory is located directly on the Zwickauer Mulde river and belongs to the Zschorlau district of Albernau in the Saxon Ore Mountains. Since 2019, it has been part of the Schneeberg Mining Landscape and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region. On 27 February 1649, the Schneeberg merchant Erasmus Schindler bought a plot of land to build a blue paint factory on the Zwickauer Mulde near Albernau. On 4 May 1649, he received the privilege to build a blue dye mill from Elector Johann Georg I. As Schindlerswerk GmbH & Co. KG, it is probably the world's oldest paint factory still in production. It is associated with a long tradition of producing blue cobalt pigments and the commercial manufacture of colour pigments. In more recent times, production has been expanded to include various paints. Laundry blue is also produced. Wäscheblau, Schindlerswerk, Zschorlau OT Albernau, Saxony, Germany, Europe
