(NNS) (Oct. 5, 2022) - The U.S. Navy conducted an annual coastal cleanup on the remote beaches of San Nicolas Island (SNI), the most isolated of the California Channel Islands, located sixty-five miles offshore, and South of Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu. The cleanup team consisted of nearly fifty volunteer Navy Sailors and civilians assigned to NBVC and Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, who removed over two-thousand pounds of trash and debris on three SNI beaches. NBVC is a strategically located Naval installation composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island. NBVC is the home of the Pacific Seabees, West Coast E-2C Hawkeyes, 3 warfare centers and 80 tenants.

This photo was taken on August 25, 2022 as part of a project to produce a poster that displays the diversity of U.S. Army NATO Brigade Soldiers and their families during the units annual organization day. The brigade provides support to roughly 1,300 Soldiers and their families to provide ready and resilient Soldiers to the NATO alliance, maintain our joint and multinational partnerships and enhance the alliance. The brigade is the U.S. Army support element for 44 NATO organizations across 81 locations in 22 countries.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - STS-114 Mission Specialist Andrew Thomas arrives at NASAs Kennedy Space Center aboard a T-38 jet training aircraft. He and other crew members are taking part in the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) over the next three days. The TCDT is held at KSC prior to each Space Shuttle flight. It provides the crew of each mission an opportunity to participate in simulated countdown activities. The test ends with a mock launch countdown culminating in a simulated main engine cutoff. The crew also spends time undergoing emergency egress training exercises at the launch pad. This is Thomas fourth space flight. STS-114 is the first Return to Flight mission to the International Space Station. The launch window extends July 13 through July 31.

PEARL HARBOR (July 11, 2022) Chilean Navy officer Lieutenant Commander Gabriel Bore on the forecastle of Chilean Navy frigate CNS Almirante Lynch (FF 07) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, three submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. Bodecker's unit, 1/506 Infantry, 4th Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was deployed to Combat Outpost Corregidor, Ramadi, Iraq.

Dakota Meyer, 23, displays the combat boots he wore during an eight hour battle in Ganjgal, Afghanistan, Sept. 8, 2009, on his dad's farm in Greensburg, Ky., Aug. 3. Meyer will be receiving the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest award for valor, from President Barack Obama in Washington, Sept. 15, making him the first living Marine recipient since the Vietnam War. Meyer was assigned to Embedded Training Team 2-8 advising the Afghan National Army in the eastern provinces bordering Pakistan. He will be awarded for heroic actions in the Ganjgal Valley, Sept. 8, 2009.
