ISS004-E-10640 (27 April 2002) --- Two Soyuz Taxi crewmembers, Flight Engineer Roberto Vittori (left) of the European Space Agency (ESA) and South African space flight participant Mark Shuttleworth, are photographed in the Pirs docking compartment on the International Space Station (ISS). Soyuz Taxi Commander Yuri Gidzenko, representing Rosaviakosmos, is out of frame. The taxi crew arrived at the orbital outpost on April 27, 2002 at 2:56 a.m. (CDT) as the two vehicles flew over Central Asia.

S123-E-006258 (15 March 2008) --- Astronaut Peggy Whitson, Expedition 16 commander, joins two members of the Space Shuttle Endeavour's STS-123 crew onboard Destiny, the U.S. laboratory. European Space Agency astronaut Leopold Eyharts, center, will return to Earth with the Endeavour crew after having served a couple of months as flight engineer onboard the station. Astronaut Robert L. Behnken, mission specialist, is at the station's Canadarm2 controls.

ISS028-E-005620 (26 May 2011) ---- Three members of the STS-134 crew assigned to space shuttle Endeavours final mission are pictured in the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agencys Kibo lab on the International Space Station, where they joined with three other crew members (out of frame) for a crew portrait. ISS013-E-62373 (29 July 2006) --- Astronaut Jeffrey N. Williams, Expedition 13 NASA space station science officer and flight engineer, trims astronaut Thomas Reiter's hair in the Unity node of the International Space Station. Williams used hair clippers fashioned with a vacuum device to garner freshly cut hair. Reiter, flight engineer, represents the European Space Agency (ESA).

ISS040-E-059344 (10 July 2014) --- In the International Space Stations Kibo laboratory, NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman (left) and European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Gerst, both Expedition 40 flight engineers, conduct a session with a pair of bowling-ball-sized free-flying satellites known as Synchronized Position Hold, Engage, Reorient, Experimental Satellites, or SPHERES. Surrounding the two SPHERES mini-satellites is ring-shaped hardware known as the Resonant Inductive Near-field Generation System, or RINGS. SPHERES-RINGS seeks to demonstrate wireless power transfer between satellites at a distance for enhanced operations.

Cygnus is on its way to rendezvous with the space station and will deliver about 1,300 pounds (589 kilograms) of cargo, including food and clothing, to the Expedition 37 crew.

The duo took turns cleaning cooling loops inside the suits ahead of a spacewalk planned for Oct. 12 to collect microbe samples from specific areas outside of the International Space Station. Scientists want to analyze the types of microbes that may be able to survive the harsh environment of outer space.
