U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors haul ash and debris in plastic-lined dump trucks from the Lahaina properties impacted by the Aug. 8, 2023, wildfires. Once fully loaded, the plastic is pulled over the top and secured in-place to prevent the ash and debris from becoming airborne during transport to the Temporary Debris Storage site in west Maui. Information, including the trucks empty weight, is written on a white placard during initial truck certification. Upon arrival to the TDS site, the trucks are weighed on large scales. With the known empty vehicle weight and the new loaded weight, along with some other driver information from the placard, the proper details can be entered into a contractor database that helps USACE track ash and debris volume, and payment information for the contractors. The two solid rocket boosters that will power NASAs Space Launch System (SLS) for Artemis missions to the Moon are on their way to the agencys Kennedy Space Center in Florida after departing from a Northrop Grumman manufacturing facility in Promontory, Utah, on June 5, 2020. The boosters - each comprised of five motor segments - are scheduled to arrive at Kennedys Rotation, Processing and Surge Facility, where teams with NASAs Exploration Ground Systems will process the segments before moving them to the Vehicle Assembly Building for stacking on the mobile launcher. Under the Artemis program, NASA will land the first woman and the next man on the Moon by 2024. The first in a series of increasingly complex missions, Artemis I will test the Orion spacecraft and SLS as an integrated system ahead of crewed flights to the Moon.

The engine service platform that will provide access to the core stage of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket arrives in the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida on June 14, 2019. The large work platform is designed to provide unrestricted access to the RS-25 engines on the SLS core stage from the ML. The service platform will be used for Artemis 1 and subsequent missions. For Artemis 1, the Orion spacecraft will launch atop the SLS rocket from Launch Pad 39B and begin an approximately three-week mission that will send Orion thousands of miles beyond the Moon. A forklift carries the crated Mars Odyssey spacecraft from the Air Force C-17 cargo airplane that brought it from Denver, Colo.., location of the Lockheed Martin plant where the spacecraft was built. The crate will placed on a transport trailer to take it from KSCs Shuttle Landing Facility to the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility 2 (SAEF-2) located in the KSC Industrial Area. In the early morning on Oct. 20, 2020, a truck sprays water in front of crawler-transporter 2 to reduce dust and bugs, as the mobile launcher for the Artemis I mission rolls slowly along the crawlerway from the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The nearly 400-foot-tall mobile launcher is being rolled to Launch Pad 39B. During its two-week stay at the pad, engineers with Exploration Ground Systems and Jacobs will perform several tasks, including a timing test to validate the launch teams countdown timeline, and a thorough, top-to-bottom wash down of the mobile launcher to remove any debris remaining from construction and installation of the umbilical arms. Artemis I will test the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System as an integrated system ahead of crewed flights to the Moon. Under the Artemis program, NASA will land the first woman and the next man on the Moon in 2024.
