Coast Guardsman Paints Invasion Insigne. Coast Guardsman Combat Artist Sandor Klein paints the unofficial amphibious force insigne - an alligator spewing out tanks - aboard a Coast Guard manned transport participating in amphibious invasion operations. Coast Guardsmen have manned transports, invasion barges and LSTs (Landing Ship Tanks) during invasions. Coast Guardsmen Klein, onetime winner of the Pulitzer prize for oil painting, was a well known New York artist before the war.

The U.S. Navy effectively destroyed Japans naval strength by sinking four of its aircraft carriers. It is considered one of the most important naval battles of World War II. Sailors assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) created posters for a Battle of Midway remembrance dinner.
