5th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Airmen work quickly to prepare B-52Hs for inclement weather conditions. The 5AMXS squadron The B-52 is capable of dropping or launching the widest array of weapons in the U.S. inventory.

The C-130 Hercules primarily performs the tactical portion of the U.S. Air Force's airlift mission. NORAD aircraft take off from Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans in support of North American Aerospace Defense Command's Operation Noble Defender March 24, 2023. Continental U.S. NORAD Region coordinated the launch of the U.S. Air Force F-15 Eagles from the Louisiana Air National Guard's 159th Fighter Wing and an E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft to conduct intercept operations with a B-52 Stratofortress bomber as it entered the U.S. Air Defense Identification Zone off the coast of New Orleans. NORAD units exercised maneuvers designed to defend the southern approach to the United States from simulated cruise missile threats in this particular OND.

According to the Army fact sheet for the Black Hawk, its mission is to provide air assault, general support, aeromedical evacuation, command and control, and special operations support to combat, stability, and support operations. The UH-60 also is the Armys utility tactical transport helicopter. The versatile helicopter has enhanced the overall mobility of the Army due to dramatic improvements in troop capacity and cargo lift capability over the years as well. Five Minnesota National Guard Black Hawks were at the airport Oct. 27.

The KC-135 is operated by the 127th Air Refueling Group, flown by the 171st Air Refueling Squadron and maintained by the 191st Maintenance Squadron. Fully loaded, a KC-135 can hold up to 203,000 pounds of fuel. On a typical, day the average load is around 40,000 pounds or 5,900 gallons of fuel. The amount of fuel a jet receives is dependent on what the mission requires.

Nine LC130s with the 109th Airlift Wing conducted the units first ever Elephant Walk on September 10th 2022. An elephant walk is a United States Air Force term for thetaxiing of military aircraft in close formation; often employed to project air power through the rapid deployment of multiple aircraft at once.

Exercise operations are shown Aug. 11, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis., for the Air Force operations in the 2022 Patriot Warrior Exercise. The exercise took place in August 2022 at Fort McCoy at mainly the Sparta-Fort McCoy Airport on South Post at the installation. Hundreds of Airmen participated in the exercise, including Airmen with the 908th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, 433rd Airlift Wing, 934th Airlift Wing, 349th Air Mobility Wing, and 514th Air Mobility Wing. Patriot Warrior is Air Force Reserve Commands premier exercise providing Airmen an opportunity to train with joint and international partners in airlift, aeromedical evacuation, and mobility support.
