A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey aircraft from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 263, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) takes off from amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) Nov. 6, 2009, in the Indian Ocean. Ospreys are being flown to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, where they will be transferred to VMM-261 and used to support the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. This is the first time the aircraft will be used in Afghanistan. The 22nd MEU is serving as the theater reserve force for U.S. Central Command.

NORTH ARABIAN SEA (March 24, 2013) An E-2C Hawkeye from the Bluetails of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121 launches from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) on the ships first day of combat air sorties of 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Dwight D. Eisenhower is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility promoting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
