Spanish Revolution, 1909. Tragic Week (in Catalan la Setmana Tràgica, in Spanish la Semana Trágica) (25 July 2 August 1909) is the name used for a series of bloody confrontations between the Spanish army and the working classes of Barcelona and other cities of Catalonia (Spain), backed by anarchists, socialists and republicans, during the last week of July 1909. It was caused by the calling-up of reserve troops by Prime Minister Antonio Maura to be sent as reinforcements when Spain renewed military-colonial activity in Morocco on 9 July, in what is known as the Second Rif War.

This almost prophetic conception of war in the air, was published by a German artist 40 years ago. It illustrates the materialistic tendency that has been fostered in Germany for generations --- and has reached full fruitition under Hitler. About the same time this drawing appeared -- 1900 --- Kaiser Wilhelm 11. designed a small mobile fortress which was, in some respects, the forerunner of the tack. During the reign of the Kaiser, no scientist was welcome at the court unless he could turn his knowledge to warlike uses. Hitler and his colleagues have, continued this policy of moulding a nation for war. Today, errors of aerial combat for exceed the imagination of the Prussian artist whose conception of paratroops was drawn years before Orville Wright made the first flight in a man-lifting aeroplane. The Mongol invasions of Japan of 1274 and 1281 were major military invasions undertaken by Kublai Khan to conquer the Japanese islands after the submission of Korea. Despite their ultimate failure, the invasion attempts are of historical importance, because they set a limit on Mongol expansion, and rank as nation-defining events in Japanese history. The Japanese were successful, in part because the Mongols lost up to 75% of their troops and supplies as a result of major storms at sea. These were named 'kamikaze' or divine winds by the Japanese.
